Welcome to Tom Buffington's Basic Webpage!

Purpose

The purpose of this webpage is to explore the possibilities of designing a basic web page, while fulfilling assignment requirements, and keeping ideas in mind for the final website project. I look forward to continuing to learn the processes of web coding and web design. Until now, I had little idea of the existence of so many possibilities, or all the work that goes into web pages!
This web page will hopefully include many of the elements and design practices which we have learned so far. As a recap, I would like to design a website which may be used for a resource at my school's elementary library. This could include helpful elements for parents, students, or teachers Happy web browsing!

Please see below for a favorite Library quote:

"You can find magic wherever you look, sit back and relax, all you need is a book!" -Dr. Seuss

Please see below for a list of items that I would like included in this final library web page:

The following are some design ideas that I have in mind, as well:

  1. School Colors
  2. Child Friendly Words and Font

For this webpage idea, I have been looking at other similar web pages to get ideas about exactly what content to include. Websites I have looked into include the websites of other libraries at my school. An example can be reached through the following link(s):

Messing Library

Considering the content of this page, two ideas which I would like to add into the final project are a 'new titles' section, and a 'community' section. Considering the 'new titles,' it is important for students, teachers, and families to know what new resources are coming into the library each month. Ideally, this section could be updated several times each school year to ensure that 'up to date' titles are shown. Hopefully this will keep students happy with what they are reading! Additionally, the 'community' section could be a great resource that families could use to keep up with current events around the school and specifically the library. Examples could include book fairs, author visits, and volunteer opportunities.

If you have any suggestions about what kind of content should go into a library webpage, I would appreciate the input. Feel free to send me an e-mail!
